Urnäsch, in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, is"Swiss Village of the Year 2022." In a major public vote organized by "Schweizer Illustrierte," "L'illustré," and "La Domenica," the search was on for a community with a distinctive cultural heart. In Urnäsch, a tradition comes to life anew every year. There is the "Schöne," the "Schö-Wüeschte," and the "Wüeschte": we are, of course, talking about the Silvesterchläuslen. It was not only this tradition, but also the Brachtumsmuseum, Urnäscher Bloch, alpine ascents and cattle drives, the 9107 Center for Crafts and Art, and much more that won over the readers.
